In some systems, the seals can work with both liquids and gases. Regardless of the pressures involved, the different contact fluids generate different coefficients of friction within the sealing system. In order to reduce the coefficient of friction, a groove is made for the application of assembly grease.

The use of this profile without assembly grease, on the other hand, can lead to an increase in the coefficient of friction, thus resulting in increased localised temperatures during operation.
