O-RING-SEDE

* L1 AND L2 ARE THE WIDTH NECESSARY FOR ASSEMBLING THE DI 1 AND 2 BACKUP RINGS RESPECTIVELY

O-rings represent the static seal par excellence.
This type of profile exploits the elastic characteristics of the material of which it is made, generating a sealing preload.

Commercially, the most common elastomer compounds are NBR, FPM, EPDM and Silicone. They are moulded in large volumes according to standard dimensional tables (e.g. English reference, DOWTI, USA…) and ISO tolerances.

However, it is often necessary to make this type of seal to custom dimensions or with special materials.

For example, ATP can produce turned ORs in standard and special compounds, sized for both radial and face seals.

For dynamic applications, O-rings are usually not recommended as they generate high friction and, compared to other solutions, are very sensitive to wear.

In cases of high pressure it is important to ensure minimal give so as to avoid the anti-extrusion phenomenon of the o-ring. In case of an increase in pressure, it may be necessary to use one or two back-up rings to avoid anti-extrusion. Contact our technical staff for measurements.
