SPECIAL SEALING SYSTEM FOR CHOCOLATE PROCESSING MACHINE

Scenario

Our customer company, Italian excellence in chocolate processing machines, was faced with a challenge regarding one of their processing machines. The machine is equipped with an auger which, set in rotation by a motor, pushes the chocolate upwards. The whole system works on ball bearings, which, due to the limitations of the standard sealing system, were prematurely damaged by the chocolate ingress. This meant that bearings and seals had to be replaced frequently, and chocolate had to be discarded during maintenance operations.

Challenge

The customer needed a solution that would guarantee longer seal life to preserve the bearings’ service life. It was essential that the proposed solution could be easily installed in the spaces already available on the machine, without requiring significant modifications.

Solution

After a careful analysis of the problem, our team designed a customized solution to solve the sealing issue.

The special sealing system consists of three types of SINTEK H-TPU seals, operating both frontally and radially, and a special EKOGLIS S-AL holder fitted with a silicone O-ring to optimize the static seal and avoid product stagnation.

The sealing system was installed on a test machine and underwent rigorous testing under extremely harsh working conditions for several months. At the end of the test, it was possible to appreciate the excellent sealing characteristics of the system proposed by ATP, which preserved the integrity and functionality of the bearings.

The excellent result prompted the customer to place several orders to upgrade the already installed machines and equip the new ones leaving the factory.
