X-RING-SEDE

* L1 AND L2 ARE THE WIDTH NECESSARY FOR ASSEMBLING THE DI 1 AND 2 BACKUP RINGS RESPECTIVELY

X-rings are four-lobe seals that double the sealing capacity of traditional o-rings, of which they are an evolution. What changes is the operating principle, which, based on the flexibility of the lobes, requires less initial compression.
X-rings are used in numerous static sealing, low-frequency dynamic sealing or semi-dynamic sealing applications where the seats have already been designed for O-rings.
This type of profile exploits the elastic characteristics of the material of which it is made, generating a sealing preload with reduced compression and consequent lower friction and longer seal life.
X-rings can be made from a variety of elastomeric materials and can be used for both standard and customised liquid and gas sealing applications. Frequently made of NBR, thanks to turning technology it is possible to make them in many other materials as well as customised dimensions.
X-rings are naturally used as radial and axial seals in flanges and bushings or as seals on pistons and rotating shafts.

In cases of high pressure it is important to ensure minimal give so as to avoid the anti-extrusion phenomenon of the o-ring. In case of an increase in pressure, it may be necessary to use one or two back-up rings to avoid anti-extrusion. Contact our technical staff for measurements.
