DETECTABLE SEAL IN SINTEK® FPM FDA CERTIFIED
Scenario
Due to direct contact with food that characterizes food industry, this sector requires the use of certified materials and components in step with the most up-to-date regulations in force
Challenge
One of our customers, a multinational company leader in the production of sauces and condiments, requested our help for the study of a new seal, with the same geometric characteristics of the solution in use, but more effective in terms of performance. The seal had to be metal detectable, blue and compliant with FDA regulations; none of those conditions were met by the solution in use made that was realized in red 65 Sh A printed silicone.
Solution
Analysing the application our technical department detected the need to have a material as compatible as possible with the dense products treated such as creams, sauces and gravies.
In addition to chemical resistance and compliance with FDA regulations, the compound had to guarantee high wear resistance, at least 6 months of operational life.
Operating data:
- Operating temperature 90 ° C
- Pressure 3-5 bar
- Opening – Closing 20 daily cycles
- Diameter dn 65
- Cip-sip cleaning
Our designers have studied a seal made of SINTEK® FPM FDA DETECTABLE 80 SH A BLUE, certified according to FDA regulation, CFR 21 section 177.260 compliant
Turning production has avoided expensive mold costs, making it possible to produce even small batches, with great advantages for the customer.
The first batch of gaskets was validated and tested over a 12-month period.
